Service Design, Turn-up Testing and Diagnostics for IP and Carrier Ethernet Networks

SAMTEST is a versatile platform supports a wide range of standards involved in service design, turn-up testing and diagnostics including:

  • Service Testing in the Lab (during Service Design) or Field (during Service turn-up testing and benchmarking)
  • IP and Carrier Ethernet and testing based on ITU-T Y.1564 and RFC 2544 methodologies
  • CE 2.0 Carrier Ethernet testing based on MEF CE 2.0 for comprehensive service verification including service attributes and bandwidth profile (as per MEF 10.2) and SLAs.
  • Stateful TCP benchmarking (RFC 6349), UDP benchmarking
  • HTTP, VoIP and video on demand (VoD)

SAMTEST is flexible to support both hardware and software-based virtual test agents (vProbe).

Unlike NIDs that have minimal support for testing and troubleshooting, SAMTEST can be relied on to provide rapid, automated and comprehensive testing capabilities to eliminate faulty turn-ups of services, as well as to quickly diagnose errors. Also, most of the traditional test tools require costly truck rolls and time-consuming manual testing, with challenges when checking stability of results and debugging long duration tests.

SAMTEST provides the efficiency and capabilities required by service providers to effectively design, roll-out and manage their Ethernet/IP network services for Cloud and Data Center Interconnect, Business Services, Mobile Interconnects (3G,4G and 5G) and Wholesale.

SAMTEST Solution Overview

Veryx SAMTEST Service Assurance solution consists of a central controller and distributed test probes. The controller which can be hosted in a dedicated server or on the cloud, contains the test libraries and the repository of test results and logs. The controller can be securely accessed from a web-based browser.

SAMTEST is flexible to support both hardware-based probes and software-based virtual test agents (vProbe). Software-based test agents can reside in x86 based platforms and network elements that support virtualization. Veryx probes support wirespeed traffic generation and reception capabilities.
