    Service Assurance involves multiple considerations – from service design, service activation, monitoring, to diagnostics.

    Service design: A better designed network helps reduce problems in the field. Validating the network architecture for service design and deployment involves verifying interoperability of the equipment used, benchmarking scalability, to benchmarking performance for varying real time traffic conditions to optimizing equipment configurations.

    Service activation: When Carrier Ethernet services are being deployed, service providers rely on manual test methods based on RFC 2544 or ITU-T Y.1564 to isolate the issues during turn-up. Often this involves sending technicians to the field to manually try and resolve the problem.

    Performance monitoring: After service roll-out, it is important to continuously monitor the network and pro-actively resolve issues where possible, or quickly resolve the issues when reported by a customer. The time, cost and effort of truck rolls for resolution of these issues tend to be high.

     How It Works

    Veryx SAMTEST Service Assurance Solution consists of a central controller and distributed probes:

    • SAMTEST Controller is a centralized controller software that co-ordinates with Veryx Test Probes to initiate tests, gather statistics and generate reports. SAMTEST Framework executes on the SAMTEST Controller hardware and provides an intuitive GUI accessible via any browser.
    • Veryx Probes generate Ethernet traffic of up to 10G to enable active testing and monitoring of Service Attributes and SLAs as initiated by the SAMTEST Controller. The traffic generated by SAMTEST probes can be received at the other end by a peer SAMTEST probe, or looped back by a peer access device, to perform the required measurements.

    All Veryx hardware platforms come with a versatile software-based test automation and traffic generation toolkit designed for testing Ethernet-based devices.

    Veryx hardware platforms are capable of generating stream-based traffic and analysis of received packets based on streams as typically needed in functional and conformance testing scenarios. This helps the tester to release expensive traffic generation ports and optimize test resource utilization.

    With this toolkit, it is possible to define and generate hundreds of transmit- and receive-streams with their own exclusive traffic profile. Each stream can generate many unique traffic flows by using programmable packet field modifiers. Generated Ethernet and IP traffic can be used to perform verification of equipment under real-world conditions.
